2020, 2021, and 2022 Graduates

We're so excited to celebrate the classes of 2020, 2021, and 2022 on Monday, May 16, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York. This is the largest Commencement in Pace history and we're glad to be celebrating with you!

Arrival Time for Graduates

Entry for graduates begins at 8:45 a.m. Please be sure to arrive by 9:00 a.m. Announcements will begin at 10:05 a.m. and the processional of University administrators, deans, and honorary degree recipients will begin at 10:10 a.m. The main ceremony will start promptly at 10:15 a.m.

Arrival Time for Guests

Entry for main event (full-day) ticket holders begins at 8:45 a.m. for the main ceremony. (Main Event tickets provide access to both the main ceremony and a college/school ceremony.)

Entry for college/school ceremony-only ticket holders begins at 11:30 a.m. (College/school ceremony-only tickets provide access to only a college/school ceremony.)

Seating

All tickets have a section and seat number, you and your guests can disregard this information. Ushers will be stationed in the stadiums to guide graduates and guests to the appropriate seating.

Seating for graduates will be organized by class year and college/school.

Transportation

Subway

The Tennis Center is served by the Mets-Willets Point Station on the 7 train. Stops on the 7 include Grand Central Terminal, which provides a connection to all Metro-North Trains, and Times Square.

Long Island Railroad

LIRR provides easy service to Mets-Willets Point Station. New Jersey Transit customers can transfer to LIRR at Penn Station. For guests with disabilities, take LIRR to 61st Street-Woodside Station and transfer to the 7 train. Take the 7 train to Mets-Willets Point Station.

The MTA website provides complete schedules and information about the most convenient ways to get to the Tennis Center.

Campus Shuttle Buses

Transportation will be provided from the Westchester (Pleasantville and White Plains) and New York City campuses for students who registered for a seat on the shuttle. Registered students will receive an email from studentcommencement@pace.edu confirming their seat on the shuttle. Transportation will not be provided for guests.

Parking

Event parking is at Citi Field, located next to the Tennis Center. The Tennis Center recommends using Grand Central Parkway exit 9E or Whitestone Expressway Exit 13D for the shortest route to available parking lots.

Upon arrival, lot attendants will direct you to the appropriate area.

There is a $30.00 charge for parking and cash is not accepted. The Tennis Center encourages graduates and guests to expedite arrival by pre-paying for parking.

Cap and Gown

If you have picked up or received your cap and gown by delivery, please wear your gowns when entering the stadium.

There will not be an assigned robing room for students to put on their gowns.

If you arrive at the Tennis Center without a cap and gown, you will still be able to cross the stage. Please visit the Herff Jones table on the East Plaza for information.

  • If you ordered your cap and gown for “campus pick-up" and were not able to pick up on the NYC or Pleasantville campus, you will be able to pick up your cap and gown on site.
  • If you ordered your gown for “HomeShip” and it has not been delivered, Herff Jones will work with you to fulfill your order at the Tennis Center on May 16.
  • We will have a limited number of gowns to borrow in the event you are not able to receive your cap and gown before, or on May 16.

Refreshments

Our Commencement festival will run from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tennis Center grounds will be open for photos and celebration, with food available for purchase by credit card, including snacks and heartier options like burgers, pizza, hotdogs, and chicken fingers. The Tennis Center permits guests to bring their own food or drink (no glass containers or large coolers!), so your guests can bring a picnic and celebrate with your favorite dishes!

Bottle-filling stations are available throughout the Tennis Center. Bring your refillable bottles to stay hydrated!

When entering the venue, be prepared to go through a security checkpoint.

COVID-19

USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center operates under New York City guidelines for entertainment venues. Currently, the city does not require masks for the venue; however, this is a mask-friendly event. For the health and safety of our community, please do not attend if you do not feel well.
