Shawn Lewis
Executive Director of ASDS Repertory Season; Design

Based in Brooklyn, Lewis has designed over 75 productions ranging from straight plays, musicals, opera, as well as film throughout the United States and abroad over the past 20 years. She started teaching at ASDS with her mentor, Tony Walton, in 1997 and has continued with the program to lead the school’s design courses.

In addition to teaching, Lewis is the resident designer for the prestigious Actors Studio Drama School Repertory Season and has designed more than 1,500 productions since its inaugural season. In 2009 she assumed the position of Executive Director of ASDS Rep. She has taught master-level classes at the University of North Carolina and at Yale School of Drama in set design. Lewis is a member of the League of Professional Theater Women and of United Scenic Artists. After attending the North Carolina School of the Arts, she received her BA in painting from The School of Visual Arts in New York City and her MFA in scenic design from New York University’s Tisch School.
