Sergeant Brenner and his canine partner, Shaunie, from the NYPD, will demonstrate how K9s serve as an integral component of explosives investigations. Sergeant Brenner and his team will demonstrate how K9s are used to combat terrorism, detect explosives and apprehend suspects.  Students will learn how police officers can become part of the K9 unit, in addition to how K9s are specially trained.

Pace Law Professor David Dorfman was a criminal defense trial attorney at the Legal Aid Society Criminal Defense Division in Brooklyn, New York.  He teaches and supervises the Criminal Justice Clinic, which represents indigent defendants charged with misdemeanor crimes in the County of the Bronx.  He is going to run a mock trial session for CRJ students.

The FBI is an intelligence driven agency, with approximately 30,000 agents, analysts, and other professionals, working diligently to protect the U.S. from terrorism, cyber attacks, and other criminal threats. The FBI today is considered one of the world’s premier security and crime-fighting forces. Reporting to both the attorney general and director of national intelligence, the Bureau has dual responsibilities as a law enforcement and intelligence agency.

Janice Powers is the Assistant Attorney General for the State of NY.  The Attorney General serves all New Yorkers in numerous matters affecting their daily lives. The Attorney General's Office is charged with the statutory and common law powers to protect consumers and investors, charitable donors, the public health and environment, civil rights, and the rights of wage-earners and businesses across the State. The Attorney General's authority also includes the activities and investigations of the State Organized Crime Task Force and Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. While the Attorney General acts independently of the Governor, the Governor or a state agency may request the Attorney General to undertake specific criminal investigations and prosecutions.

Brian Evans is the Associate Dean and a Professor with the School of Education at Pace.  He is the former Assistant Provost for experiential learning and an Associate Professor of Mathematics Education.  He also served as the coordinator for the Pace Path program and a faculty-in-residence.  He is a black belt and master in the art of self-defense.  Please join us to learn some defensive tactic moves.
