Chair's Welcome

“Serve with Excellence, Work toward Greatness”

In the Pace University Master of Public Administration program, we believe the role of 21st century public administrators is to help build a civil society, to lead and to serve amid challenging and changeable times and administrations.

Our graduates chart the path forward for government agencies, nonprofit organizations, healthcare facilities and even private business. We focus on public service across sectors. We celebrate public service values in a global society. We build relationships along with knowledge among our students, faculty and alumni as they change the world.

21st century administrators must be global citizens. The world is far too small and transparent. There are few dark corners we cannot peer into. But with this awareness comes responsibility. This awareness is critical to understanding the pivotal role of public administration. Strategic vision, planning, and action are necessary as we increasingly must do more, with less, as we strive for sustainable communities.

WHY CHOOSE THE PACE MPA?

Dedicated Faculty: We bring our research into the classroom. Small class sizes mean students get to know their faculty and receive the mentoring they need to succeed. Experienced professionals serve as adjunct instructors, bringing timely real-world expertise to students.

Diverse Student Body: Our students are uniquely New York- ranging from inner city to international and everything in between. Students may be mid-career professionals or fresh out of undergraduate programs. Our diverse mix of students means fresh ideas, multiple perspectives, and democratic discourse.

Active Alumni: With over 1,500 graduates in the metro- New York area, our students are connected. Students network jobs, actively recruiting their fellow graduates. (Find us on Twitter: Pace_MPA; Facebook: MPASA at Pace University; and LinkedIn: Pace University MPA: Students, Faculty, Alumni.)

Specialized Programs: We offer three tracks that enable students to specialize in their preferred discipline, yet retain flexibility to customize to individual interests. We offer graduate certificate programs for those students who want to acquire new skills and knowledge to stand out in the marketplace.

Short-Term Study Abroad: We’ve been taking students for a life-changing summer experience to Oxford, United Kingdom for over 20 years. Students study with professors at Oxford University and learn first-hand from government, nonprofit, and healthcare practitioners in Oxfordshire. This short-term study abroad fits nearly everyone’s time constraints and insures a variety of interesting student participants.

Critical Career Development: Our students prepare for positions that require strong analytical and administrative skills, the ability to apply various management tools, and in-depth knowledge in specific policy areas. Pace Career Services delivers exceptional service and additional learning opportunities for students and alumni.

Focused Research & Policy Centers: The MPA program is associated with three specialized centers that serve the community: The Center for Health Care Policy, Education and Research, The Edwin G. Michaelian Institute for Public Policy and Management, and The Wilson Center for Social Entrepreneurship.

In the Pace Master of Public Administration program, Opportunitas doesn’t just relate to you as an individual, but to the collective impact all of our graduates will have on the world.

Get involved. Embrace ambiguity and change. Challenge yourselves. Be global citizens. We’re here to get you started. Please reach out to us for further information.
