FAST FACTS — 100 OPPORTUNITIES OF SERVICE AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT

  • 34 university departments participated in 100 Opportunities of Service.
     
  • More than 200 staff/faculty participated in the 100 Opportunities of Service.
     
  • More than 1,000 students participated in 100 Opportunities of Service.
     
  • The Department of Information Technology held the largest staff event with 81 staff members providing painting and assistance for seniors during their divisional meeting.
     
  • Alumnus Davis Abraham planned our farthest away 100 Opportunity.  Model United Nations students provided the Global Marketplace Junior Achievement lesson to school children in Brazil.
     
  • The Center for Community Outreach at Dyson College held the largest dual campus event, Paint a School, with 75 participants.
     
  • 5,019 hours of community service were provided to the surrounding Westchester County and New York City communities through 100 service events.
     
  • These events contributed an estimated $90,542 worth of volunteer time during the celebration of the centennial.
     
  • The information provided did not include the civic engagement and public value courses or community work provided through these courses, which included 73 courses and more than 14,000 hours of community work by more than 1,400 students.
