"I am an English major who, as a child, fell in love with books."
– Catharine Conway, Class of 2018

I am an English major who, as a child, fell in love with books. The different worlds and characters contained within felt very real to me. A few decades later, I discovered the five-year combined degree Bachelor of Arts in English and Master of Science in Publishing program at Dyson College of Arts and Sciences. This was the only such program in the country and I knew it was exactly what I needed to pursue. The English and Modern Language Studies department has given me incredible support and the freedom to explore along the way. As a sophomore, I interned in the editorial department at The Knot, one of the largest bridal magazines in the country. This has been personally meaningful to me, as I am also a certified wedding planner. After graduation, I see myself working as a managing editor in a book publishing company in Manhattan, so that I can help publish those very kind of books that influenced me.
