The temperature has been hot and sticky in New York City this time of year and it is only going to get hotter which means… it’s time to go to the beach! If you are planning a weekend getaway or just looking to cool off from the heat this summer with family and friends, these beaches are a quick subway, ferry or bus ride away. The New York City beaches are now opened until early September.

Here are 3 of the best beaches in New York City:

#1  Jacob Riis Park Beach

Jacob Riis Beach

One of my favorite beaches in New York City is Jacob Riis Park Beach. Jacob Riis Park Beach is packed with fun activities for the entire family. As part of the Rockaway Beach area, visitors can enjoy great eats such as taco spots and ice cream shops throughout the day. You might even catch a live concert while you are there. Just a short ferry ride away, you can use Citymapper to find out how to get to this great spot for the upcoming weekend!

Fort Tilden Beach

Another top favorite of mine would be Fort Tilden Beach. This peaceful location features clean sand, trees and nature walks for all. It is almost as if you are no longer in New York City. Just a short bike ride away from Jacob Riis Park Beach, Fort Tilden Beach will provide you with a quiet day away from the city. You can use Citymapper for directions to get enjoy a relaxing day at Fort Tilden Beach.

Coney Island Beach

One of the most visited beaches in New York City would be Coney Island Beach.Hundreds of thousands of people visit this beach as it offers a range of fun things to do in the summer. It is known for being one of the best day trips in NYC. Along with the beach, visitors can enjoy the boardwalk, Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs and an array of amusement park rides within Luna Park.
