3 Outdoor Activities to do in New York City
Summer has arrived to New York! With that means our students are eager to leave their houses after many months of quarantine and feel the summer air. New York City entered phase 2 of our reopening plans which means restaurants are now allowed to be open for outdoor dining and parks throughout the city have reopened.
Here are three outdoor activities you can do in New York City, while also remaining safe and practicing social distancing!
# 1 Picnic in Central Park
With 840 acres there is more than enough space to spread out from others and enjoy being outside. Pack a blanket, a picnic basket packed with charcuterie essentials, a Bluetooth speaker for music, a face mask and some sun screen. Relax on the famous great lawn and enjoy a well-deserved afternoon outside soaking up the sun.
#2 Exercise along the Hudson River Greenway
Located on the west side of Manhattan, this 12.9 mile long trail spans all the way from Inwood Hill Park on the Upper West Side down all the way to Batter Park in the Financial District. This trail provides expansive views of both the Hudson River and Manhattan. It even has a dedicated bike path with Citi Bike rentals nearby in case you don’t want to walk it all.
#3 Enjoy some al fresco dining
Now that restaurants are able to reopen allowing for outdoor seating the options for where to eat are growing each day. From famous restaurants in Rockefeller center to trendy places on the Lower East Side, the possibilities are endless. Restaurants that didn’t have outdoor dining before and now accommodating to this new lifestyle. The iconic Arthur Avenue in the Bronx (the real Little Italy of NYC) is seeking to shut down the streets to provide even more space for traditional Italian style al fresco dining.
Whether you are looking to relax, get some exercise or enjoy a meal at a restaurant after many months of not being able to, the options of what to do in NYC are growing each day. As we embrace this new normal be sure to stay safe by practicing social distancing, packing plenty of hand sanitizer and wearing your face mask!
