Cross-Cultural Psychology

This course provides an introduction to the field of cross-cultural psychology, which studies the effects of culture on human psychology. Research has shown that many psychological processes are culture-specific rather than universal. This course explores such topics as perception, emotion, motivation, intelligence, personality, gender identity, and psychological disorders from cross-cultural perspectives.

How does culture influence our emotional experience and our perception?  Does culture influence our parenting style? Are conformity and social loafing universal or do they vary across cultures? How do different cultures resolve conflict? We will also examine cross-cultural studies of happiness, anger, stress and anxiety.

We hope you join us for this interactive, informative and fun class!

  • The course *requires a four-hour assignment that must be completed before the start of the weekend course.
  • The assignment will be sent to the email address that you used to register for the course one or two weeks before the start of the course.
