Applied Algorithmic Thinking Club
The Applied Algorithmic Thinking Club is a faculty-led student club whose goal is to have fun with algorithms!
The activities are oriented to develop skills on problem solving, algorithmic thinking, modeling, and coding in an informal and inviting setting.
We meet weekly in Seidenberg’s lounge (161 William Street, 2nd Floor) to focus on the following different areas :
- Problem solving: for skills improvement in Data Structures, Algorithms, and coding.
- Whiteboard-interview coaching: for attempting algorithms exercises from real tech interviews, comparing solutions, analyzing optimizations.
- Leetcode/HackerRank coaching: for coding exercises from automated tools used in real tech interviews.
- Advisement talks: for consulting on job interviews, career development, graduate school, research opportunities, NSF REU programs, etc.
The club will also host programming hackathons, and identify and coach teams to represent Seidenberg in programming competitions such as ACM and Google Code Jam.
Expected Outcomes:
- PROGRAM FOR FUN ! and also for living
- TARGET THE MOON ! seek provable-efficient high-quality solutions rather than something that simply works
- ALGORITHMS TO LIVE BY! apply algorithmic thinking beyond computers
- Build experience
- Improve academic standing
- Qualify for top jobs and get them!!
