The Office of Academic Technology is a direct connection between the ITS department and the Pace academic community. Academic Technology staff explores, evaluates and implements various instructional technologies that are in line with faculty’s pedagogical practices and with the University’s Strategic Plan. The department facilitates Distributed Learning Initiatives (DLIs) including multiple types of technologies that support online, blended, and f2f teaching and learning. Learning management systems, web conferencing, lecture capture software and electronic portfolios are key areas of focus.
Active Learning Classrooms (ALCs)
ALCs offer tools and flexible layouts to support lively discussion, multimedia, group work, and presentations while allowing students to work using their laptops and mobile devices at the same time. Pace currently has five ALC's along with plans for the Classroom Design Committee to expand and create more in the future. ALC's can be reserved as the primary meeting space for a face-to-face course. ALC's cannot be reserved for single presentations or events. Blackboard: The Blackboard Learning System is a virtual learning environment and course management system. Its main purposes are to add online elements to courses traditionally delivered face-to-face and to develop completely online courses with few or no face-to-face meetings. Please review the Blackboard Standard Operating Procedures (PDF) for policies regarding support and requests for copying courses, combining courses, and the schedule for archiving courses. All faculty and students automatically have access to Blackboard. Instructors can submit a request to create a Guest account in their course for users outside of the Pace community. You can access information and tutorials regarding Blackboard.
Computer Resource Center (CRC)
Information Technology Services CRCs provide open-access computer labs for Pace students, faculty, staff, and Alumni with a valid MyPace Portal account. CRC software offerings include popular word processing, spreadsheet, desktop publishing, graphics software and other packages as well as course-specific offerings for the Mac and PC. The Pharos Printing System multifunction device offers printing, copying and scanning services.
The Digital Toolkit is a collection of self-help guides, tutorials, and resources geared to help students and faculty at Pace. The toolkit includes software and tools supported by ITS. It is a one-stop shop for self-service help, frequently asked questions, and troubleshooting.
Document Services provide high quality print, imaging, and digital solutions for the University community. The department maintains new technology in the imaging industry to assure the highest quality of service. Please click on Hours of Operation to see pick-up locations and contact information.
The Educational Media Centers provide media and technical support and expertise to the instructional process at Pace University. This includes assisting the faculty and students in their academic endeavors. The Centers also keep abreast of technological advances in the media field in order to enhance the quality of education offered by the University. You can order media-related equipment that is not available in your assigned classroom, or obtain help in using the equipment in your classroom by contacting them well in advance of the class meeting where you need this assistance. Faculty automatically get a pace.edu email account (it is usually the first letter of your first name and your last name @pace.edu). All email correspondence from Pace University and its departments will go to your Pace email account. Here you can forward Pace email to another email, activate account, reset your password, and download software such as Microsoft Office, Skype, EndNote, and more.
Technical support is available to all Pace students, faculty and staff experiencing any technological issues. To report an issue, contact the ITS Help Desk by phone (914-773-3333), email (firstname.lastname@example.org), or online at help.pace.edu. There are also walk-in centers located in NYC and Pleasantville. These centers offer assistance with Pace applications, such as printing, wireless and email, and software downloads. They also provide preliminary consultations and recommendations on other IT-related questions or issues. In addition, you can put in help desk tickets for Academic Technology, Blackboard, Human Resources, Facilities, and more.
Information Technology Services
Information Technology support at Pace is provided by a central IT unit. ITS delivers computing services to support mission critical teaching, learning, research and administrative endeavors of the University community, as well as the technology and infrastructure services for academic, research, administrative computing, and the university's telecommunications, networking services and information security.
IT Appropriate Use Policy
Users of these services and facilities have access to valuable University resources, to sensitive data and to external networks. Consequently, it is important for all users to behave in a responsible, ethical and legal manner. In general, appropriate use means understanding the intended use for Pace I.T. (and making certain that your use complies); respecting the rights of other Pace information technology users; maintaining the integrity of the physical facilities, and obeying all pertinent license and contractual agreements.
Webspace for personal web pages are available to all current Pace University student, staff and faculty. Before submitting the web space request form for processing, the requester must read the University's Appropriate Use Policy For Information Technology.
