Financial Aid News Flash - Special Edition - September 2016
E-mail is Financial Aid’s primary means of communication so please be sure to check your Pace e-mail regularly.
The time to apply for Financial Aid is a lot closer than you think! File your 2017-2018 FAFSA as early as October 1st, 2016!!
There has been a major FAFSA income reporting change as well. Starting with the 2017-2018 FAFSA, students and/or parents/spouses are expected to provide income information from two years earlier instead of the immediate prior year. You will no longer be forced to estimate the family income information in order to complete the FAFSA. So, you will provide 2015 income information on the 2017-2018 FAFSA; the same income information you reported when completing this year’s (2016-2017) FAFSA.
We strongly encourage you to file the FAFSA on October 1st. Pace University’s new recommended FAFSA filing deadline is November 15th. We also recommend that you and/or your parents/spouses use the Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) to transfer tax information directly from the IRS to your FAFSA. You will be offered this option on the FAFSA website: www.fafsa.gov.
To better explain these upcoming changes we have included the chart below.
