Len Mitchell, PhD
Interim Director, Pforzheimer Honors College, Pleasantville Campus
I happily teach in the philosophy and religious studies department (since 2008), where I am now a full-time lecturer. My education background is Auburn University (in Alabama, the state I grew up in), Cumberland School of Law (in Birmingham, AL), New York University for two graduate law degrees, and CUNY Graduate Center (NYC) for my Ph.D. in philosophy. Prior to studying philosophy, I was a tax lawyer with Time Warner, Inc. for 18 years, and practiced law in Alabama prior to that.
Over the years I have been involved with several social service, human rights, and health care organizations, and continue to be active with several of these organizations. I live in Armonk, NY with my wife Janet. Our son lives in NYC and our daughter lives in Cleveland. On campus I play in the Pep Band (3rdtrombone) and enjoy many activities with students. Our dog Luca lives with my daughter in Cleveland, but visits fairly often…but not often enough.
Beginning this fall (2019), I am looking forward to being the Interim Director of the Honors College on the Pleasantville Campus. I look forward to meeting all Honors students and helping you have a rich college experience.
