Meet our Staff

Len Mitchell, PhD

Interim Director, Pforzheimer Honors College, Pleasantville Campus

I happily teach in the philosophy and religious studies department (since 2008), where I am now a full-time lecturer. My education background is Auburn University (in Alabama, the state I grew up in), Cumberland School of Law (in Birmingham, AL), New York University for two graduate law degrees, and CUNY Graduate Center (NYC) for my Ph.D. in philosophy. Prior to studying philosophy, I was a tax lawyer with Time Warner, Inc. for 18 years, and practiced law in Alabama prior to that.

Over the years I have been involved with several social service, human rights, and health care organizations, and continue to be active with several of these organizations. I live in Armonk, NY with my wife Janet. Our son lives in NYC and our daughter lives in Cleveland. On campus I play in the Pep Band (3rdtrombone) and enjoy many activities with students. Our dog Luca lives with my daughter in Cleveland, but visits fairly often…but not often enough.

Beginning this fall (2019), I am looking forward to being the Interim Director of the Honors College on the Pleasantville Campus. I look forward to meeting all Honors students and helping you have a rich college experience.

Carol Turco

Senior Staff Associate: Pforzheimer Honors College, Pleasantville Campus

I have been at Pace since 2005, starting out in Student Development and Campus Activities, then in the Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean for Students Office, providing support in many projects such as Convocation, Homecoming, Commencement, and Family and Parent Orientation. I have been married to Big Rich for 44 years with two beautiful daughters and am enjoying being Mema to Arianna Grace and Luca Joseph.

I joined the Honors College staff in Fall 2015 and have loved every minute of working with these wonderful students. It is such a pleasure to watch these “kids” mature into such kind, respectful and loving adults.

Norika Barnes, BSN, RN

Academic Advisor: Pforzheimer Honors College, Pleasantville Campus

I first arrived at Pace University as a pre-med undergrad and a member of the woman’s basketball team. After my sophomore year I made the decision to join the United States Navy, were I served honorably for 8 years as a Hospital Corpsman. I returned to Pace after getting accepted into the RN program, from which I graduated in 2015. While attending Pace as an undergrad in 2011, I was hired to work in Mortola Library, a position I kept after graduating and becoming a RN.

This long history at Pace gave me skills that were suited for the position of academic advisor. So, when the job became available, I jumped at the opportunity. I must say I couldn’t be happier. The Honors College has been a delight to work for and to work with. The Honors community at Pace has been welcoming and a joy, and look forward to getting to meet all our students this semester.
