Hiring manager
You play an important role as a hiring manager. You guide new employees as they begin what we hope will be an exciting, fulfilling career at Pace University. We hope that the new employee orientation checklist will help you perform this role. By completing these tasks over the next 12 months, you will help your new team member become an engaged employee and increase his or her contribution to Pace University. Human Resources
- Provide and discuss on-boarding responsibility, including roles, process, tools, and resources to direct manager (and new manager’s assistant if appropriate) within 3 days of offer acceptance
- Conduct monthly new hire orientation and benefits sign-up
- Assess effectiveness of on-boarding process
Executive and Administrative Assistants
- Assist hiring manager with completing the New Employee Orientation Checklist and ensuring:
- Prior to first day:
- Prepare office and obtain requisite supplies/equipment/software
- Assist in getting access to system, logins, passwords
- Assist in obtaining parking stickers, ID’s, etc.
- First week:
- Provide guidance on the needed survival skills or “go-to’s” and “how-to’s” of the office and campuses, including expense accounts, travel policy, shuttle buses, etc.
New Manager On-Boarding Program
Hiring manager
Review and complete the New Employee Orientation Checklist (PDF) for Hiring Manager.
Human Resources
- Provide and discuss on-boarding responsibility, including roles, process, tools, and resources to direct manager (and new manager’s assistant if appropriate) within 3 days of offer acceptance
- Conduct monthly new hire orientation and benefits sign-up
- Check-in with new hire after two weeks for a “how’s it going” conversation
- Assess effectiveness of new manager orientation process
- Provide coaching and advice to new manager hire as appropriate (from hire date to six months)
- Check in with direct manager within two week
- Within one month of start date, provide new manager with an overview of the PMDP and goal setting process and the management skills curriculum and course calendar
Executive and Administrative Assistants
- Assist hiring manager with completing the New Employee Orientation Checklist and ensuring
- Prior to first day:
- Prepare office and obtain requisite supplies/equipment/software (e.g., VPN)
- Assist in getting access to system, logins, passwords
- Assist in obtaining parking stickers, ID’s, etc.
- First week:
- Schedule first set of key relationship building meetings
- Provide guidance on the needed survival skills or “go-to’s” and “how-to’s” of the office and campuses, including expense accounts, travel policy, shuttle buses, etc.
