When you can't be there...

…STAY ENGAGED WITH YOUR STUDENTS.

Planning ahead for a class you can't hold in person (e.g., if you're at a conference)

  1. Communication
    1. Tell your students in a previous class session.
    2. Remind your students with email.
      1. From within your Blackboard course.
        1. Click “Email” from the left-side menu.
        2. Select “All Users”.
        3. Enter the subject, the message and click, “Submit”.
      2. Use Qwickly + to email one or multiple courses in one operation.
        1. Log in to Blackboard.
        2. Click the “My Resource Page” tab.
        3. At the bottom-right in the Qwickly module, click, “Send Email”.
        4. Select the appropriate course(s).
        5. Enter the subject, the message and click, “Submit”.
      3. Official instructors of a course may send an email to CRN.Term@pace.edu. For example, if you are teaching ACC-101-12999.201870, you can send an email addressed to 12999.201870@pace.edu and all registered students will receive it.
    3. Create an announcement.
      1. From within your Blackboard course.
        1. Click, “Announcements”, then “Create Announcement”.
        2. Enter the subject and the message.
        3. Check the “Email Announcement” box, if desired.
        4. Click, “Submit”.
      2. Use Qwickly + to create an announcement in one or multiple courses in one operation.
        1. Log in to Blackboard.
        2. Click the “My Resource Page” tab.
        3. At the bottom-right in the Qwickly module, click, “Post Announcement”.
        4. Select the appropriate course(s).
        5. Enter the subject and the message.
        6. Check the “Email Announcement” box, if desired.
        7. Click, “Submit”.
    4. Inform your chair/director/supervisor of your plans using your normal form of communication.
  2. Choose how you will cover class material.
