Embedded Tutoring Support

Embedded Tutors will be provided for the following types of class sections at the 100 or 200 levels only:

Flipped Classroom/large amount of in-class problem sets:

  • Classroom size under 36 students
  • One or both class sessions would be mainly problem based
  • Large amount of student group work
  • Historically high level of struggling students

Large Lectures:

  • Lectured based with over 40 students
  • Generally, helps support in addition to faculty office hours
  • Historically high level of struggling students

General focus/requirements of an Embedded Tutor

The Embedded Tutor attends class regularly, either once or twice a week pending agreement between the Center and Faculty member or academic department. In addition, the Embedded Tutor is required to complete at least six hours of weekly tutoring within the Learning Commons. For student access, the Embedded Tutor work schedule will be listed in TutorTrac and they should provide it to the faculty member directly as well.
