– Brianna Celaj, Class of 2017
Meet Brianna Celaj from Briarcliff Manor, New York. Brianna is a Marketing major on our Pleasantville campus.
Where are you interning this summer?
Maggie Vision Productions
What have you been working on at your internship? Has it sparked an interest in a career/area of study you hadn’t already thought about?
Maggie Vision is a production company that produces numerous films, commercials, and other live shows. One of their top projects that they produce is the ESPY awards, which is an ESPN award show that recognizes top athletes. I was fortunate enough to work on this year’s ESPY show, which turned out to be the highest rating ESPY show to date. I worked primarily on the talent side — I dealt with bookings, tickets, and travel for all of the athletes that attended the award show. Before the show, I was working the top of the red carpet, making sure people knew when athletes arrived. During the show, I was backstage working with the ESPN public relations team getting athletes to visit the different press stations after they presented or won an award.
Do you believe your internship experience has helped to prepare you for your future?
This internship has definitely provided me with experience that will prepare me for the future. I never saw myself working an award show, but seeing how Maggie Vision has an entire talent department dedicated to assuring that top tier athletes attend their show has definitely opened my eyes to realizing how much goes into providing a phenomenal award show. We worked long days and put in so much effort into the ESPYS. We received a lot of good feedback in regard to this year’s show. Seeing hard work payoff on such a big stage is an amazing feeling!
Any advice for other Lubin students looking for internships?
I would definitely promote going out and finding internships that spark your interest. I looked forward to going to work every day, so it was an enjoyable experience for me. I was dealing with the sports world and made relationships with many people from Maggie Vision, as well as outside…ESPN worked very closely with Maggie Vision and our talent department often collaborated with ESPN talent teams.
