Academic and Professional Engagement Activities

Alan Eisner, Ph.D. is the Department Chair and Professor of Management, Department of Management and Management Science, Pace University. He joined Pace University in 1997. He received his Ph.D. from the Stern School of Business, New York University. Alan has a B.S. in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering and an M.Eng. in Engineering Management, both from Cornell University. He has published more than 25 articles journals such as the International Journal of Electronic Commerce, Advances in Strategic Management, International Journal of Technology Management, American Business Review, Journal of Behavioral and Applied Management, The Case Journal, and Journal of the International Academy for Case Studies. The 9th edition of Dess, McNamara, & Eisner’s Strategic Management textbook was published by McGraw-Hill in January of 2018.

Dr. Eisner’s teaching interests include strategy, entrepreneurship, and organization theory. He regularly teaches courses such as Doctoral Foundation Seminar in Management, Asian Business Strategy Field Study trip to China, Strategic Management, Corporate Diversification, and Venture Initiation.

Dr. Eisner is in the Academy of Management, Management Education Division leadership team as Junior Faculty Consortium Coordinator. He has also a served past Division Program Research Coordinator and Division Nominating Committee Member-At-Large for the MED division. He was the founding Director Internet Communications for the Academy of Management: Charged with the design and construction of a central Internet presence for the Academy of Management. He has served as the Associate Editor of the Case Association’s peer reviewed journal, The CASE Journal.
