Academic and Professional Engagement Activities

Dr. Ebrahim Mortaz is an assistant professor of Management Science in the Lubin School of Business at Pace University. He joined the Pace faculty in September 2017. He received his Ph.D in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Auburn University, Auburn, AL, in 2017 and his M.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering from Tehran Polytechnic, Tehran, Iran, in 2011. He also received an M.I.S.E degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Auburn University in 2013.

Dr. Mortaz's primary research includes the application of analytics to problems in electric power industry. Over the past four years, he has been investigating how to efficiently integrate the electric vehicles into the smart grid by studying the short- and long-term investment problem in microgrids. His recent findings appeared as a refereed paper in the Journal of Electric Power Systems Research and International Journal of electrical power and energy systems. Dr. Mortaz has also conducted research on integration of renewable energy resources into the generation mix and the impact of this integration on the transmission system. He presented his research regarding the impacts of renewable resources on electric power transmission infrastructure in the recent INFORMS conference in Houston, TX. Dr. Mortaz has been an active member of INFORMS and IIE since 2014 where he has organized several sponsored sessions and contributed as an invited research presenter. He has also been a reviewer for the International Journal of electrical power and energy systems.

Dr. Mortaz's teaching interests lie in the area of analytics, statistics and optimization. He is currently teaching business analytics and project management for business classes in the Department of Management and Management Sciences at Pace University.
