Zooming in on the New Deans

Pace’s newest deans are facing their toughest interviewers yet: students!

Public relations major Stephanie Nazario ’21 signed on to chat with Tresmaine R. Grimes, PhD, in her first interview as dean of Dyson College and the School of Education.

Dean Grimes is a native New Yorker and the first generation in her family to earn a college degree. She began her career at South Carolina State University as a member of the Psychology and Sociology Department. During her nine-year tenure at SC State, Grimes served as chair of the department. In 2000, she joined the faculty of Iona College as an adjunct professor of psychology, and worked her way to become a tenured associate professor of psychology. Seven years later, Grimes was promoted to assistant vice president for Academic Affairs at Iona College before she went to Bloomfield College where she served as vice president for Academic Affairs/Dean of Faculty and a psychology professor for four years.

Meanwhile, Student Government Association representatives from the New York and Pleasantville campuses sat down virtually with Lawrence G. Singleton to talk about his first few months as dean of the Lubin School of Business and his vision for the future of the school.

Dean Singleton most recently served as dean and professor of accounting and international business at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was previously a member of the faculty of the School of Business at The George Washington University in Washington, DC, where he held many leadership positions, including associate dean for undergraduate programs. In addition to his academic credentials, Singleton has worked in the audit and National SEC Practice groups of EY’s Washington office, and was a visiting professor at Grenoble Ecole de Management in France and Peking University in China. He also served as a consultant to many of the world’s leading organizations.
