50 Days Gears Up for Spring Break (PLV)

Take Back the Night, kickoff Relay for Life, apply to internships, eat a Snickers, and get involved in much more this week as part of 50 Days and 50 Nights in PLV.

Before you pack up and head off to volunteer, soak up the sun, or Netflix binge with your dog, take the time to save a life, voice concerns in a community meeting, cure hanger with a Snickers bar, and network with the FBI. SDCA is back with a superb lineup of events for 50 Days and 50 Nights this week to help you be productive now so you can take some time to relax next week.

Monday, March 6

Bone Marrow Drive
10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. | Kessel Multipurpose Room
Be the match and save a life. Donating bone marrow can be as easy and painless as giving blood, and you have the chance to make a difference in someone’s life through Future Leaders in Health Care’s bone marrow drive.

Commuter Life: Summer is Coming—Get Those Internships
12:00 p.m.–1:15 p.m. | Gottesman Room
Don’t have that dream internship lined up for summer yet? Get on it! SDCA is partnering with Career Services to get students ahead of schedule in finding summer internships. Students will be able to build their resumes and score insider interviewing tips.

Interview Workshop

Are you preparing for upcoming interviews? Have questions about what to say and what employers will ask so you can land an offer? Come to the Career Center’s interview workshops to be prepared and ready to take on every interview with confidence.

PLV Undergraduate Community Meeting
3:15 p.m.–4:30 p.m. | Gottesman Room
Have opinions or questions on the state of your campus? Join the Student Government Association for a meeting that will host questions, comments, and concerns for the Pace PLV Community.

Wednesday, March 8

Eat a Snickers: You’re Not You When You’re Hungry
12:00 p.m. | Kessel Multipurpose Room
Sorry for what you said when you were hangry? Come out for the Commuter Life event inspired by the famous commercial for the Snickers candy bar. Destress by coloring, playing games, making your own stress balls, and eating tasty snacks including Snickers bars.

FBI Presentation
12:10 p.m.–1:10 p.m. | Lienhard Lecture Hall
Interested in investigation? Network with the FBI! Through this event hosted by the Accounting Society, students will connect with recruiters and mentors to learn more about the agency and to enhance their knowledge on employment opportunities.

Men’s Lacrosse vs. New York Institute of Technology
4:00 p.m. | Pace Stadium
Get ready for a roaring good time watching Men’s Lacrosse take on the NYIT Bears.

Dear White People Movie Screening
9:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m. | Willcox Multipurpose Room
Dear White People is a movie about young black students at a predominately white college. Through satire, this movie zooms in on each of the students’ lives at the school and their experiences.

9:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m. | Butcher Suite
Move those feet and dance to the beat! This fitness event hosted by Student Nurse Coalition for Diversity and Development will give the Pace Community an opportunity to exercise in a fun and interactive way.

Spring Relay for Life Kickoff
9:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m. | Gottesman
It’s time to take action against cancer! Relay for Life is coordinated by more than 5,200 communities in 20 countries, including on our very own PLV Campus. Get excited for this year’s Relay taking place on April 21, and gather your friends to sign up as a team at this coffee shop themed kickoff event.

Take Back the Night
9:00 p.m.–12:00 a.m. | Kessel Multipurpose Room
According to RAINN, every 96 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted. Join the Pace Community in raising awareness and fighting back against sexual assault at Take Back the Night, an event that has been occurring worldwide since the 1960s and stands by its mission of ending sexual violence in all forms, including sexual assault, sexual abuse, dating violence, and domestic violence. TBTN empowers survivors in the healing process. Usually TBTN events entail activities such as a candlelight vigil, a silent walk, moment of silence, survivor speak-out or open microphone sessions, and many other impactful activities that help promote the message.

Effecting Change Through Leadership

Elevate your potential! In this HiPo Leadership Series session, you will be given information to come to the realization that understanding people on the individual and collective levels is important in regard to distinguishing the differences in leadership and management styles.

Friday, March 10

Women’s Lacrosse vs. Queens College

Watch as the Setters attempt to defeat the Queens College Knights by scoring with lacrosse sticks and stamina instead of swords and shields.

Grit and Ice Cream Social

Baseball vs. Nyack College
