This month, faculty and staff from around the University are making news, sounding-off, and publishing papers.

The second edition of Decision-Making in Nursing: Thoughtful Approaches for Leadership by College of Health Professions professors Sandra B. Lewenson, EdD, RN, FAAN, and Marie Truglio-Londrigan, PhD, RN, has been published. 

Lubin Professor Aron Gottesman, PhD, participated in a panel at Bloomberg to discuss how his department integrated the company’s training initiative into its curriculum to help students get “fantastic jobs.”

Lubin Professor Bruce Bachenheimer will be speaking at two workshops—“Building Scalable Ventures: University’s Role in the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem” and “Eco-Systems for Long Term Success: Building Sustainable Enterprise”—at the annual conference of the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers (GCEC), which is being held at University College London (UCL) this fall.

A feature article on Pace's Senior Fellow for Environmental Affairs John Cronin ran in print and online in Education Outlook, a supplement of The Journal News.

The College of Health Professions recently gathered health care thought leaders for a webinar on appreciative inquiry in nursing education, featuring Dean of the College of Health Professions Harriet R. Feldman, PhD, RN, FAAN; CHP faculty members; and Jeanie Cockell, EdD, author of Appreciative Inquiry in Higher Education: A Transformative Force. College of Health Professions professors Joanne Singleton, PhD, RN, FNP; Lucille Ferrara, EdD, MBA, RN, FNP; and Marie Truglio-Londrigan, PhD, RN, recently published “Appreciative Inquiry: An Innovative Initiative for Continuous Improvement in Doctoral Education” in the May 2014 issue of AI Practitioner Magazine.

College of Health Professions professors Joanne Singleton, PhD, RN, FNP; Lucille Ferrara, EdD, RN, FNP; Lin Drury, PhD, RN; Sophie Revillard Kaufman, DPS; and Joanne DeMarco published “Appreciative Inquiry: Twenty Years of Change and Innovation in a School of Nursing’s Quality Improvement Process” in the May 2014 issue of AI Practitioner Magazine.

Dean of the College of Health Professions Harriet R. Feldman, PhD, RN, FAAN, was recently elected to a two-year, at-large term to the AACN Board of Directors.

An article on Nurse.com mentioned College of Health Professions Professor Sharon Wexler, PhD, RN, BC, as the mentee of Elizabeth Capezuti, RN, PhD, FAAN, who was recently honored by the Brookdale Center for Healthy Aging of Hunter College’s Sadin Institute on Law and Public Policy.

Robert S. Pace Distinguished Research Professor Florence L. Denmark, PhD, was presented with the 2014 Woman of the Year Award by Spotlite Radio.

Dyson Professor Lee Evans, EdD, recently published “Notable Next-Door Neighbors” in the July/August issue of Clavier Companion. He also published “Chord Brain Teasers: Revoicing Challenges” in the summer 2014 issue of The California Music Teacher.

Men's Basketball Assistant Coach Andrew Impastato was selected to participate in the Full Court Peace initiative from August 4-8. Coach Impastato will be traveling to Havana, Cuba, to rebuild basketball courts in the island nation.

Dyson Professor Rhonda Miller, head of commercial dance program, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from Dance Educators of America on July 5.

Biology and Health Science Professor William Eaton co-authored an article in BMC Ecology Journal in May about the effects of Bromelia pinguin on Costa Rican soil ecosystems.

Dyson Professor Amy Zilliax recently wrote a book review of the Young Adult Crossover Shortlist for The New York Times.
