There are so many ways to give back to the community. Join the Center for Community Action and Research (CCAR) when they smash stereotypes, volunteer at Fashion for Action or Feeding Westchester, combat food insecurity, and more.

NYC Campus

Provisions Food Pantry

Pace’s NYC Campus has partnered with the Food Bank for New York City to open Provisions, a food pantry that is available to all students, staff, and faculty. Guests can choose from a selection of grains, pasta, canned vegetables and fruits, as well as select dairy products. Fresh seasonal produce, harvested from the Provisions Garden, will also be available. All guests are required to complete a one-time intake form and use Pace’s card swipe system per visit. Call for Volunteers: Fashion for Action

Fashion For Action presents the perfect blend of fun, fashion, and feel-good fundraising. Guests get access to shop over $1 million worth of donated apparel, accessories, and curated closets. All proceeds will benefit Housing Works and their mission to end the dual crises of homelessness and AIDS. All participating volunteers will receive a Fashion for Action t-shirt (event night and public sale days) and a 25 percent off discount coupon at the end of their shift. Register to volunteer at Fashion for Action!

Call for Volunteers: New Roots Community Farm

CCAR and the Office of Multicultural Affairs (oMA) are partnering with New Roots Community Farm for a volunteer opportunity for Pace students! Join them to take part in this wonderful resource located right in the Bronx. Email Vandana Pawa, program coordinator for NYC’s CCAR, as soon as possible if you're interested in participating.

Call for Volunteers: Trinity Church
Deadline: Monday, November 18
Trinity Church’s is hosting an open house for their congregation in lower Manhattan, and you’re invited to volunteer! Assist their efforts as a greeter, facilitate games and activities, work as a hall monitor, and more at this family-friendly day of fun. It will take place on Saturday, January 11, 2020, but you must email CCAR NYC in order to volunteer for the Trinity Church open house. Please include your name, email, and phone number!

Smashing Pumpkins
Monday, November 4 | 12:00 p.m.–2:00 p.m. | Miller Lawn
CCAR is co-sponsoring POWER’s annual Smashing Pumpkins event with a number of other organizations! You’ll get the chance to write a stereotype on a pumpkin and then smash it to smithereens.

Election Day Voter Van
Tuesday, November 5 | 12:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m. | Meet outside Choate House
If you’re registered to vote in Pleasantville, CCAR will transport you via bus to the local polling place at Briarcliff High School. You can’t miss it: there will be patriotic decorations, snacks, and stickers as well as buttons for all those voting. Join them!

Call for Volunteers: Feeding Westchester

Join the CCAR in supporting Feeding Westchester, a local organization working to eliminate hunger in Westchester County. They will be packing produce for the Senior Produce Program. Sign up on OrgSync to assist Feeding Westchester

Mobile Food Pantry
Wednesday, November 13 | 11:45 a.m.–2:30 p.m. | Outside the Kessel Student Center
Join the CCAR in supporting Pace’s Mobile Food Pantry, organized in partnership with Feeding Westchester. The Mobile Food Pantry is open to students, faculty, staff, and community members and relies on volunteers to run! The Food Pantry happens once a month. Sign up for a shift on OrgSync to help with the Mobile Food Pantry. Further opportunities to volunteer can be found on the CCAR OrgSync page.

Common Hour Conversation: Food Insecurity
Wednesday, November 20 | 12:00 p.m.–1:00 p.m. | Kessel Student Center, Conference Room C/D
CCAR will be hosting a Common Hour Conversation on Food Insecurity. Volunteer Services Coordinator Jandery DeLaCruz will be arriving to speak about food insecurity locally and related volunteerism. She works with Feeding Westchester! Lunch will be served.
