Faculty and Staff for the Kids

News Story

Join the Pace Community at the fifth annual Pace 4 Kids Dance Marathon, and help raise money for the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at the Westchester Medical Center.

Want to make a difference in the lives of sick children and their families? The 5th annual Pace 4 Kids Dance Marathon is happening on Saturday, November 18, and we invite faculty and staff to join us in making miracles happen.

Every minute, 62 children are admitted to a Children's Miracle Network (CMN) hospital for treatment. In fact, 1 in 10 children in North America are treated by a CMN hospital every year.

Each year, the student-run Pace 4 Kids Dance Marathon brings members of the community together to dance for those who can’t and raise money for the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital (MFCH) at Westchester Medical Center.

At last year’s dance marathon, more than $18,000 was raised to help expand the pediatric oncology unit and support the 20,000 children who walk through the hospital’s doors looking for hope. Back for its fifth year, P4K needs the support of the entire Pace Community to give children hope on November 18 from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the Kessel Student Center on the Pleasantville Campus.

This year, donations are down and the students need your help. Are you a Pace alumnus? Donate to the Pace Alumni team or one of the existing teams. Want to start your own? Great! Register now.

For six hours on November 18, dancers will participate in a group morale dance (watch video of a recent morale dance), while families of children treated by MFCH share their stories.

Among those impacted is Pace double alumna and adjunct professor, Caitlin Kirschbaum ’10, ’13, who co-founded P4K five years ago. Kirschbaum was a junior at Pace when her brother suffered a massive aneurysm and was medevaced to Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, where he received the life-saving care he needed.

“Pace 4 Kids (P4K) Dance Marathon (DM) is how I know that I can do my bit, it is my opportunity to pass a kind gesture back to the siblings that are feeling helpless, to the parents that feel as though their child’s future [is] not guaranteed, to ease the uncertainty of their minds, and in some VERY small way help save a life,” said Kirschbaum. “I am no RN, but I can certainly DM for them!”

At last year’s event, one parent spoke about how she supports P4K for her daughter, who received three neurosurgical interventions from Maria Fareri. “I think what we love most about P4K is the students,” she said. “[My daughter] really looks forward to coming here, spending time with the students, dancing with them, getting to know them, and just having a great time where she’s not the patient.”

There are various ways Pace faculty and staff can get involved:

MAKE A DONATION: Every dollar makes a difference. In fact, if every faculty and staff member donated $1, we would help raise more than $4,000. Now imagine the amount we could raise if we all shared a link on our social media pages. Make your donation today.

HELP WITH RAFFLE PRIZES: Know a local business who would be willing to donate raffle prizes or baskets? Email Pace student and Executive Director of P4K 2017 Angela-Maria Ramirez at

VOLUNTEER: Interested in helping the day of the event? Volunteers are always needed to make sure P4K is a success. E-mail Angela-Maria Ramirez at if you're interested in volunteering.

JOIN A TEAM: It’s not mandatory that you dance or attend the event to be part of this movement. Join or start a team, make a $10 donation, and share the link with friends and family and on your social media pages.

ATTEND THE EVENT: If you want to stop by, bring your families and children. P4K is kid-friendly, with several patients attending, and various interactive activities and raffles.

Together, we can make miracles happen.
