Faculty Success Stories: April 2019
As the semester is heating up, Pace faculty continue to make invaluable contributions both locally and nationwide.
Dyson Professor of Psychology Joseph R. Franco, PhD, has been elected for a two-year term commencing as Downstate President to the New York Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (NYACES). Franco will be working closely with counselor educators to promote quality education and supervision to master’s and doctoral students, partnering with the NYS Office of the Professions and the Department of Higher Education.
Lubin Professor Steven Mezzio, PhD, has been appointed as one of five national board members of the Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) national board of directors for a three-year term, effective May 2019. Mezzio will be director of innovation, a newly structured role for 2019. Beta Alpha Psi is an international honor society for students majoring in accounting, finance, and information systems, and is operated by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA).
“What is particularly exciting about this appointment is that my board position, director of innovation, is a newly structured role for 2019. It did not exist in the past,” says Mezzio. “The role was developed in recognition of the disruption in higher education and the accounting/business profession and the need for BAP to continue to re-invent itself and reposition and sustain the BAP value proposition in the marketplace. In substance, the role is designed to drive the vision, mission, and actions informing the future of BAP. It is an honor to be appointed to this role, particularly during 2019, the year BAP is celebrating their 100 year anniversary.”
Dyson Associate Professor Kimberly Collica-Cox, PhD, has been named to the Westchester County Correction Advisory Board. Cox has received major recognition over the past several years through her groundbreaking Parents, Prisons, and Pups program, and has spent over two decades working with and support incarcerated populations.
College of Health Professions Dean Harriet Feldman, PhD, has been selected as this year’s Carol Russet Award winner for the American Council on Education (ACE) Women’s Network for Westchester/Rockland County. Feldman will be honored at a luncheon on Thursday, April 25, at the Knollwood Country Club in Elmsford, NY, from 12:30 p.m.–3:30 p.m.
