School's in session, but our Professors have kept on working through the summer—and have been racking up the accolades!
“Having already served as a J. William Fulbright Scholar at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, China, it is a great honor to be added to the Fulbright Specialist Roster. I am excited to learned where in the world I might now be placed and what collaborative research projects will develop,” said Czarnezki.
Lubin Clinical Associate Professor of Accounting Steven Mezzio, PhD, was named the chair of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) Academic Advancement and Higher Education Committee. Mezzio, whose appointment began in June, will be working closely with the NYSSCPA CEO on a number of initiatives to prepare students and graduates for the ever-changing demands of the accounting industry.
"A fourth industrial revolution is underway globally; a digital and environmental revolution characterized by a fusion of technologies that is blurring the lines between the physical, digital, social, environmental, and biological spheres, transforming stakeholder demands and experiences," says Mezzio. "As a result, demand is growing for a balanced mix of relevant soft skills and technical skills that supplement traditional accounting skills, such as advanced analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), robotic process automation (RPA), critical thinking, innovation, and global collaboration."
"The challenge for business schools / accounting curriculum is how best to adapt to this growing demand for real world relevant and personalized educational pathways. To contribute to this conversation, the New York State Society of CPAs has formed an Academic Advancement and Higher Education Committee, which I am privileged to serve as chair. The immediate-term focus of this committee of diverse representatives will be to advance practical perspectives on the future of accounting education."
Professor and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Jill Gross, JD, was recently cited several times by the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in Reading Health Systems vs. Bear Sterns/JP Morgan Securities, LLC. Gross is a nationally known expert in the field of securities dispute resolution.
“I am so proud to have been cited by the Third Circuit in Reading Health System vs. Bear Stearns,” said Gross. “Seeing my scholarship have an impact is so rewarding.”
