Fight the Flu 2020

News Story

It’s flu season, and now more than ever, we each have a responsibility to keep our community safe by taking a few necessary precautions to prevent the spread of influenza virus. Read on for tips and information about how to get your flu vaccine!

While we thank you for helping to create Our Safe Pace by continuing to take all precautions to prevent the transmission of COVID-19, as a community, we must maximize prevention of the spread of influenza virus by getting vaccinated. The symptoms of the flu and COVID-19 are similar, and so are the methods of prevention:

  • >> Avoid close contact with sick people.
  • >> Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. After using a tissue, throw it in the trash and wash your hands.
  • >> Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • >> Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • >> Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with germs.

Flu vaccines are available at little to no cost on campus or at health care providers in the local community. To get your flu vaccine on campus, please make an appointment with University Health Care (UHC) through our secure patient portal.
