Find Your Place at Pace

News Story

As you prepare to embark on your first day at Pace when our doors open (both online and in-person!) on Monday, August 24, take a moment to hear from current Dyson College students about how they overcame stress and made the most of it.

Whether you’re a high school student about to leave home for the first time (officially!) or a transfer student prepping to attend a brand-new setting, first-day jitters are a reality for every incoming Pace student. That’s why Dyson College took the time to ask a few current Pace Setters about how they were able to address their concerns about entering a new environment, as well as how they managed to move past them. “It’s pretty, pretty overwhelming, I’m not gonna lie,” one Dyson student admitted. “It’s a huge adjustment compared to a high school experience. It’s very different.”

They shared a number of insights in the video. If you’re on-the-go, some highlights include:

  • >> Make friends at Orientation! Those sessions are specifically designed to connect you with other Pace students who will be your peers throughout your academic career. That includes your Orientation Leaders (OLs), who often continue to offer mentorship as you navigate this whole new space.
  • >> Talk to your professors. They’re here to help support you in your coursework, and by keeping an open line of communication with them, they’ll get to know you and be more willing to help.
  • >> Pace yourself (pun unintended—but it works, doesn’t it?). This isn’t a race. You’ll gradually settle into a new routine and get comfortable as the semester continues. Enjoy this time! It will go by much faster than you think.

We can’t wait to see you when classes resume for the fall on Monday, August 24. Be sure to review all the available information about our Fall 2020 return and what you should expect. We may be facing a whole new normal this upcoming semester, but we’re all in this together. The health and safety of the entire Pace Community is our number one priority.
