ITS Connect: October 2018
ITS has been hard at work upgrading our technologies, and preparing Pace for (gasp!) the 2020s.
New Tech Zone in NYC!
The Computer Resource Center, located in One Pace Plaza, W202, underwent a full renovation this past summer, which included a new layout, paint, lighting, furniture, and electrical upgrades. The space has also been renamed as the Tech Zone and includes the following new features.
- >> 62 PCs (Windows 10 & Mac OS)
- >> New Lounge Area with 12 Tablet Arm Chairs
- >> New Pharos Color Printing
The new Tech Zone is an attractive and inviting open space where students can convene, collaborate, and get coursework done. Renovations were also completed for rooms W205, W206, Y24, and office spaces.
For more information and to see renovation pictures, check out the Tech Zone website. We invite everyone to stop by and experience the new space.
ITS is pleased to announce the introduction of eduroam. Eduroam is an Internet2 global service for wireless network access, which was developed for the international research and education community. It allows students, researchers, faculty, and staff to securely and seamlessly obtain wireless access at all participating institutions worldwide.
Members of Pace University can use their MyPace Portal logon credentials to access the eduroam network while visiting other participating institutions anywhere around the world. Likewise, visiting members of other institutions that subscribe to eduroam may use their home institution's logon credentials to access the eduroam service when visiting Pace.
ITS updates technology in all our classrooms on a yearly basis. During the academic year, we assess current technologies in classrooms and how faculty and students are utilizing those technologies. Using a four-year equipment replacement life cycle model and designated funding from the student technology fee, we identify a select number of classrooms each year to be upgraded. The upgrades range from an install of a projector and computer to a complete classroom redesign, which was the case for the Miller 20 and W403 (video conference ready Deloitte classrooms) and Goldstein 300 and 314, which saw a complete overhaul of the existing technology.
Pace professors are weighing in on the 2020 election, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and much more in this month's edition of Fit to Print.
