Master Plan Updates: Summer 2018
Construction on the NYC Campus is moving along! Here are some important updates.
While many students are off-campus, Facilities and Capital Projects are working hard to ensure minimal disruption during the school year, ensuring that the NYC Master Plan stays on track so that all improvements can be enjoyed by the Pace Community as soon as possible.
The following projects are currently underway and will be completed at the start of the semester in September, except where noted. Here’s what you need to know:
NEW YORK CITY UPDATES
One Pace Plaza
The One Pace Plaza Gym locker rooms and weight room on the C-Level will be renovated into a new and modern space. The Gym and cardio rooms will be available during the construction. The locker rooms will have modern showers with private changing space, new lockers, and bathrooms. The new space will give students, faculty, and staff enhanced facilities to shower after using the gym space. This work will be completed in November.
The 2nd floor of One Pace Plaza will undergo year two of the sprinkler installation on the floor. The location of the sprinkler installation will require the following departments to relocate or close temporarily during the summer:
- >> The Computer Resource Center, mainframe dance studio, nursing room, and meditation room will be closed during the summer. The Computer Resource Center staff will temporarily move.
- >> Auxiliary Services, the Office of Student Success, and Document Services will temporarily move.
- >> The Writing Center entrance will remain in its current location, however their entrance will now be through the 2nd floor of the Library.
Detailed room relocations can be found on the Facilities and Capital Projects website.
On the 3rd floor of One Pace Plaza, Y32 will be renovated as a classroom. Y34 and Y35 will be converted to new faculty offices for Dyson. The work will require abatement. The abatement will be monitored, contained, and discarded daily. There will be an air quality firm taking samples of the air to ensure that the abatement work is completed safely and complies with DEP requirements.
The Deloitte classrooms in both One Pace Plaza (W504) and Miller Hall (M20) will be renovated and have new videoconference equipment installed.
The elevators in Maria's Tower will also undergo work to modernize and increase efficiency. Beginning on May 14, two of the elevator cars will be out of service. Once the first two are completed and back in service, the remaining two will be out of service for modernization. This work will take approximately six to eight weeks.
41 Park Row
On the 3rd floor of 41 Park Row, the former University Health Care space will be converted to space for Performing Arts.
On the 13th floor of 41 Park Row, the Psychology department will have their AV equipment updated.
163 William Street
Seidenberg's videoconference room on the 2nd floor of 163 William Street will be upgraded and optimized to better reach their technological needs.
New office and research space will be created on the 4th floor of 163 William Street for nursing, communication sciences and disorders, and health science faculty in the College of Health Professions.
CHP's videoconference room on the 5th floor of 163 William Street will also be upgraded.
