New Leadership at Pace
A new decade brings fresh, exciting leadership! Horace Anderson, JD, was recently appointed Dean of the Elisabeth Haub School of Law and Mary Baglivo was appointed Chief Marketing Officer and Vice President of University Relations.
Congratulations, Dean Anderson!
The Pace University Community extends its congratulations to Horace Anderson, who was appointed Dean of the Elisabeth Haub School of Law in December 2019. Anderson, who had served as the school’s interim dean since 2018, first joined the law school faculty in 2004.
Under his recent leadership, the Elisabeth Haub School of Law has been making considerable strides—in addition to increased enrollment, application numbers, and the introduction of new, relevant programs, the school was recently recognized by the U.S. News & World Report for having the number one environmental law program in the country.
“Horace is the right person to lead Haub Law to a strong and successful future," said Marvin Krislov, Pace's president. “His vision for Haub Law has brought great successes during his time as interim dean, including our new U.S. News ranking as the No. 1 environmental law program in the country. I know the faculty, staff, and students join me in congratulating him on this well-deserved new role.”
“There is no better job than inspiring the future lawyers and leaders of tomorrow, and it all goes back to Pace’s mission of Opportunitas,” said Anderson. “My parents immigrated to this country from Jamaica 50 years ago. I was the first person in my family born in the United States, and the first to attend law school. Thankfully, I had role models and mentors who inspired and supported me. Every day I am honored to educate and guide our law students. A Haub Law degree transforms lives and families and prepares our students to make change in the world.’’
Anderson, who specializes in intellectual property, internet privacy, and technology and communications law, received his JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and a BS in Economics (with a concentration in finance) from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
Welcome, Mary Baglivo!
Last month, President Krislov announced that Mary Baglivo has been appointed Chief Marketing Officer and Vice President for University Relations at Pace. Baglivo will oversee marketing, communications, special events, government affairs, and community relations for both New York City and Westchester.
“Mary comes to us with a remarkable combination of experience in the advertising industry and in higher education communications and marketing,” said Krislov. “She’s an accomplished leader who will bring a sharp strategic vision to our communications efforts. I’m excited to see the great things our University Relations team will achieve under her guidance.”
Baglivo has held top communications and marketing roles at two leading AAU research universities in the Big 10 Conference, where she was responsible for building integrated marketing communications organizations that incorporated brand strategy, media relations, creative, web services, digital advertising, social media, and data analytics. She served as Vice Chancellor for Communications and Marketing at Rutgers University–New Brunswick and Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences. Prior to joining Rutgers, Baglivo was Chief Marketing Officer and Vice President of Global Marketing at Northwestern University. At Northwestern, in addition to her communications role, Baglivo served as a senior strategy advisor to the President; a member of the Global Strategy Task Force, a group charged with defining global expansion plans for the university; and Chair of the Arts Circle Committee, a faculty and administrative team commissioned to develop interdisciplinary arts programming and marketing.
Prior to her career in higher education, Baglivo had a highly accomplished career in brand marketing and advertising, including CEO roles at several leading global advertising firms. She was CEO Americas at Saatchi & Saatchi, a top global ad agency, where she was responsible for the North America, Latin America, and Multicultural operations.
“I couldn’t be more excited to get to work for Pace University, which has one of the most important stories to tell—that a Pace education provides opportunities that transforms lives,” said Baglivo. “I’m looking forward to helping the team at Pace share what makes this university so impactful, and I’m proud to join such an impressive group of professionals who are making a difference in the world.”
