NYC Master Plan: March 2020

News Story

Beginning this summer, Pace will rebuild floors four, five, and six of One Pace Plaza West into a modern learning environment with high-tech instructional tools conducive to contemporary and future methods of teaching and learning.

As President Krislov announced during his State of the University Address in February, Pace will be entering the next phases of our New York City Master Plan—designed to reinvigorate our downtown Lower Manhattan Campus and ensure that our University will be well positioned to thrive in the 21st century.

Beginning this summer, Pace will rebuild floors four, five, and six of One Pace Plaza West into a modern learning environment with high-tech instructional tools conducive to contemporary and future methods of teaching and learning. These new spaces will serve our forward-thinking programs in health care, environmental science, and computer science and information systems.

The renovation will feature sustainable design elements to improve indoor air quality and reduce the use of natural resources. Pace will use furniture, carpeting, paint, and other finishes with low or no volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and we will install an ionization system to improve indoor air quality. Where possible, recycled and local materials will be used to minimize greenhouse gas emissions, and during the demolition phase, materials will be recycled whenever possible. The designs will specify energy efficient equipment for heating and cooling, LED lighting, efficient water-saving fixtures, and connections to Pace’s building management system for highest efficiency. These efforts are part of the University’s ongoing commitment to reduce our carbon consumption and minimize our environmental footprint.

As we begin to enter the next phases of the Master Plan, we encourage you to stay informed of all upcoming developments. Read more about the timeline, see renderings, and learn more.
