One Heck of a Caribash (PLV)

News Story

From Caribbean Jeopardy to J’ouvert to Don’t Forget the Lyrics and more, Students of Caribbean Awareness (SOCA) is filling your week with a whole lot of spice as part of their annual Caribash Week in PLV!

The most anticipated week of the semester. What is Caribash Week? That is correct and it kicks off on Monday, April 20, with Jeopardy: Caribbean Edition at 9:00 p.m. in Butcher Suite. Free food and prizes!

Tuesday, April 21, will test your song lyric knowledge, but not your skill ("you don't have to sing it well; you just have to sing it right") as SOCA hosts Don’t Forget the Lyrics Island Style at 9:00 p.m. in Butcher Suite.

Rest up on Wednesday, because Thursday, April 23, is all about that bass with Zumba vs. Wuk Yuh Waist Line, where you’ll learn Zumba exercises and different Caribbean dance styles from 9:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m. in Butcher Suite.

Finally, on Friday, April 24, paint the town red, blue, green, and any other color you want at SOCA’s J’ouvert event from 5:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m. on Miller Lawn. Spend your night throwing colored paints, mud, or oil at this huge celebration of colors. Wear all white and don’t plan on wearing these clothes again…well, until next year’s big event!
