We are living in an unprecedented time of uncertainty and stress. The coronavirus (COVID-19) public health crisis has affected all of us in every conceivable way, touching the lives of our friends, our family, our neighbors, our classmates, our professors, our staff—the list goes on. While everyone at Pace University has stepped up to do their part in protecting and informing everyone in our community, there have been a number of incredible stories—your stories—that we want to tell.

Take two Haub Law students for example. Matthew Bayley and Anthony Honorowski both serve in the National Guard, and when they were called to assist essential personnel in the fight against COVID-19, they answered. Bayley, who enlisted in the Army National Guard in 2016 as an Officer Candidate and currently serves in the New York National Guard as a First Lieutenant, is now serving in upstate New York as an Officer in Charge as part of the NY National Guard’s COVID-19 mission. Honorowski, who joined the National Guard in 2013, is currently serving in Pennsylvania. There is so much more to their stories, which we sincerely hope you take the time to read, and we know they’re not the only ones out there helping their communities.

In fact, we know that Casey Geldman ’18, a recent alumna and former Pace lacrosse player, is currently working on the frontlines of the pandemic as an RN at the Peconic Bay Medical Center in the Med Surg Unit. Kelly Mullholand ’93 is also helping out on Long Island by heading up the Mercy Medical Center’s infection prevention efforts.

How are you responding to COVID-19? Are you working as a first responder? What about at a hospital or nursing home? Or a grocery store? Have you been delivering much-needed packages? We’re looking to hear from anyone deemed an essential worker and how this pandemic has affected you.
