Pace Makes an Impact

News Story

Each year, Pace contributes more than $1 billion to the New York metropolitan area’s economy and about 60,000 volunteer hours to local organizations. These are just a few of the big numbers complied by Pace’s Wilson Center for Social Entrepreneurship.

For more than 100 years, Pace University has been preparing its diverse student body for a lifetime of learning, community service and professional success. We are excited to share the most recent analysis about the economic impact of Pace University throughout New York State. The economic analysis, prepared by The Wilson Center for Social Entrepreneurship at Pace University, utilized payroll, construction, procurement and other data such as student and visitor spending on meals, entertainment, transportation, and local retail.

Economic Analysis: Pace University’s spending on payroll, construction, procurement and other expenses has a significant impact, generating hundreds of millions of dollars of economic activity for the region. Likewise, our students and visitors throughout our various campuses spend on meals, entertainment, transportation and retail purchases, all of which has a tremendous impact on the local economy.

Capital Investments: Pace’s spending on construction projects has a significant impact, generating hundreds of millions of dollars of economic activity for the region. In total, Pace University construction spending impact on the regional economy amounts to $893.8 million in increased output, $292.9 million in earnings, and 5,545 jobs. This can be broken down into three major areas of impact: General Capital Projects, Pleasantville Master Plan, and New York City Master Plan.

New York City Campus: In total, Pace University NYC’s impact on the regional economy amounts to $681.9 million in increased output, $220.7 million in earnings, and 5,861 jobs. This can be broken down into three major areas of impact: University Spending, Student Spending, and Visitor Spending.

Pleasantville Campus: In total, Pace University Pleasantville’s impact on the regional economy amounts to $278.5 million in increased output, $92.8 million in earnings, and 2,409 jobs1. This can be broken down into three major areas of impact: University Spending, Student Spending, and Visitor Spending.

Law School: In total, the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University’s impact on the regional economy amounts to $81.4 million in increased output, $26.3 million in earnings, and 683 jobs. This can be broken down into three major areas of impact: University Spending, Student Spending and Visitor Spending.

Athletics: In total, the estimated overall annual economic impact of the Pace University Athletic Department on the regional economy amounts to $33.8 million in increased output, $13.4 million in earnings, and 291 jobs. This can be broken down into two major areas of impact: University Spending and Visitor Spending.
