Pace Mobile App Contest (NYC)

From an app to help you skip the queue to a music playlist for older adults in senior homes to a sound to text service, five finalists will showcase their apps to compete for cash prizes on December 5. And your vote will make it hAPPen.
Earlier this fall, we asked you to submit your concepts for a mobile app contest. Transforming sound to text. Finding odd-jobs to work around your busy school schedule. Avoiding long lines when you’re late for class. These are just a few of the five finalists presenting concept designs for their mobile apps at the Pace Mobile App Design Contest 2.0 hosted by Pace’s Entrepreneurship Lab on December 5 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the eLab in Room 344 at 163 William Street on the NYC Campus.
The free, open exhibition will give you the opportunity to meet and hear from all finalists and vote for your favorite to win $500, $250, and $100 cash prizes.
The finalists are:
Alive Inside, created by Seidenberg Computer Science student Keith Wright ’17 and Seidenberg MS in Telecommunications and Network Systems student Martine Nezerwa ’15, is an application that provides older adults living in senior home with a “music listening list” based on their responses to a series of guided questions and their subsequent selection of songs, artists, and albums.
EventBook, created by Seidenberg Computer Science student Sabiya Bachhus ’14, looks to change the way traditional social apps have people spending more time with their devices than socializing with a healthier, natural, and more fulfilling way of inviting one another to social events.
NoteTaker 1.0, created by Lubin MBA in Marketing Management student “Winston” Yen-Chi Hsu ’15, helps people transform sound to text such as transcribing interview, lecture, speech, and even song tracks to text.
SetList, created by Dyson Biological Psychology student Judy Acosta ’14, gives college students around the country with busy schedules the opportunity to make money with one-time jobs like babysitting, dog walking, tutoring, etc.
SkipDQ, created by Lubin MS in Accounting student Sukhmani Dhanoa ’14, puts an end to the great dilemma of choosing coffee or class, creating an on-the-go ordering capability where you can “skip the queue” and pick up your order at a scheduled time.
