Peace of Mind
What do you get when you put Pace, the Jed Foundation, Clinton Foundation, and Facebook all in one room? An incredible event on April 1 that you're going to really "like".
Over the last 12 years, the Jed Foundation has emerged as the leader in protecting the emotional health of America's 20 million college students and in 2013, Pace was one of only 30 colleges in the U.S. awarded the JedCampus Seal. On April 1, the Pace students can get peace of mind as the Jed Foundation and the Clinton Foundation Health Matters Initiative (CHMI) team up with Facebook to bring Mental Health and Wellness on Campus—A Town Hall Without Walls to the NYC Campus in the Schimmel Theatre from 3:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Moderated by Gail Saltz, MD, psychiatrist, psychoanalyst, columnist, best-selling author, and television commentator and contributor to the Today show, this town hall-style discussion will explore how mental health can lead to issues including prescription drug misuse, self-harm, and suicide on campus, as well as its prevalence, challenges, stereotypes and dangers.
Can’t make it to the Schimmel? That’s ok. The Town Hall will be streamed live to college campuses at clintonfoundation.org/myhealthyU across the nation so students everywhere can participate. RSVP on the right to watch the conference and use the hashtag #myhealthyU to ask questions and join the conversation.
Panelists for the town hall discussion will include:
Michael Botticelli, Acting Director, White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. Botticelli was a member of the Advisory Committee for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s Center for Substance Abuse Prevention and the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention.
Marc Brackett, Director, Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. Brackett serves on numerous research advisory boards, including CASEL, Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation, and the Greater Good Science Center.
Misha Kessler, Winner of the Jed Foundation’s 2013 Student Mental Health Award. Kessler is a recent graduate of George Washington University and an attempted suicide survivor.
Richard Shadick, PhD, Director of the Pace University Counseling Center and Adjunct Professor of Psychology. Shadick has been awarded federal and state grants on suicide prevention in diverse college student populations and underage drinking.
Starshell, singer-songwriter and young adult mental health advocate.
