Prepped and Ready (NYC)

News Story

Think you know what to do in the event of an extreme natural or man-made disaster? Pace wants you to be prepared and informed through a NYS Citizens Preparedness Corps Training session on Friday, February 20, in the Schimmel Center.

Blizzards, storms, and zombie apocalypses accidents. How would you handle a natural or man-made disaster? Better yet, do you have what you need to be prepared before disaster even strikes? NYS Citizens Preparedness Corps Training will give you not only the skills, but also the physical tools you need to survive a disaster at a training session on Friday, February 20, at 1:00 p.m. in the Schimmel Center.

Residential Life invites the Pace Community to participate in a program from the Governor’s Office that gives New Yorkers the tools and resources to prepare for any type of disaster, respond accordingly, and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. NYS Citizens Preparedness Corps Training will cover topics like necessary supplies, who to contact for help, how to sign up for emergency alerts, and more.

Officials from the NYC Office of Emergency Management and the NYS Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, as well as 20–30 members of the National Guard, will be on campus for the event.

All those in attendance will receive certificates of completion and response kits.

The event is free and open to the public, but prior registration is required. For more information or to register for NYS Citizens Preparedness Corps Training, click here.
