The Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra: The Struggle to Forgive | Friday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m.
The Struggle to Forgive, a new musical drama, tackles the issue of gun violence in America by giving voice to the various humanistic forces that shape the debate surrounding the issue—from victims and their families, to law enforcement and perpetrators, to politicians and gun enthusiasts. Lonesome Traveler: The Concert | Saturday, May 5, at 7:30 p.m.
Lonesome Traveler features folk legend Peter Yarrow of the trio Peter, Paul and Mary, and a cast of young singers and instrumentalists as they perform the concert version of the acclaimed Off-Broadway musical that tells the story of American folk. From Woody Guthrie to Bob Dylan, the concert will feature the music of Pete Seeger, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, and many more, with a special tribute to the late, great Leonard Cohen. Puerto Rico: Hope in the Dark | Monday, May 7, at 6:30 p.m.
Puerto Rico: Hope in the Dark is the story of the people of Puerto Rico and the faith, strength, and hope that has sustained them in the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Kayhan Kalhor and Friends | Saturday, May 19, at 7:30 p.m.
Kalhor is a soulful master of the kamancheh, the Persian spiked fiddle, and an ambassador for Persian music. He’s known for his moving improvisations, as well as extensive collaborations with music legends including Yo-Yo Ma, the Silk Road Ensemble, Brooklyn Rider, and countless orchestras around the world. Forever Linked: The Early History of Precision Dance Troupes | Saturday, June 9, at 6:00 p.m.
Directed and choreographed by Mary Six Rupert, this special tap-dancing event will examine the history of precision dance.
