Spring into the LGBTQA Centers
Attend informative discussions, sit down with your family for a supportive conversation, and shake up the semester with a queer comic writing class and the Queer Gala thanks to the LGBTQA Centers on the PLV and NYC campuses.
Need an outlet to talk? Looking for a way to celebrate who you are with friends? The LGBTQA Center on the PLV Campus and the LGBTQA and Social Justice Center on the NYC Campus have created full lineups of supportive, informative, and super fun events for the spring semester. Cure those post-spring break blues with lunch discussions on queer music, activism, and dating in PLV, attend a queer career panel in NYC, and get ready for a huge end of the school year celebration at the Queer Gala in NYC.

LGBTQA Lunch Discussion Series
Wednesdays, 12:10 p.m.–1:10 p.m. | Kessel Center, Rooms 213 and 214
This informative and interactive discussion series combines enriching conversation and community building through a variety of topics ranging from queer media and music, to dating, to activism—plus a free lunch is included!

From Lady Gaga to Adam Lambert, learn more about popular queer media and music and how it is portrayed.
Dating Online, On Campus, and IRL | March 29
The world of dating can be extremely confusing. Listen to Vinnie Birkenmeyer from the Office of Residential Life talk dating online, in person, and on campus and ask any questions you may have.
Healthy Sexuality and Sexology | April 5
Let’s talk about sex, baby! Have all your questions about sex answered by Jena Manders from Planned Parenthood.
Activism and Resiliency, Taking Political Action | April 12
Let’s take a stand! Come together for a talk about how to be a strong activist and leader, led by Tyler Kalahar from CCAR.
Queer Parenting | April 19
Shari Crandall from the Office of Residential Life delves into queer parenting and will answer any questions you may have about dealing with your parents, or eventually parenting yourself.
End of Semester Rainbow Celebration | April 26
Come to this colorful, fun event celebrating everything you have achieved this academic year!
Friday, March 31
If you are an LGBTQAI+ student or alumni from the PLV or NYC campuses, join the Center for a free overnight queer camp experience you will never forget! Join the PLV and NYC Campus Centers as everyone explores LGBTQA identity, forms friendships, has interactive dialogues about LGBTQA realities, and much more. Past Q Camp activities have included family dinner and plenary panel, art sessions, night hikes, campfires, and more. Can We Talk? Sexual Orientation and Gender
11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. | Kessel Center
It’s time to talk. This informal workshop will provide a space for parents, students, and their families to talk about sexual orientation and/or gender, ask questions, listen to other people’s stories, learn from others in similar situations, and build and increase support networks. Lunch will also be provided.

Homos in Herstory: Zine-Making
3:25 p.m.–4:25 p.m. | Birnbaum Library
Get ready to flex those creative muscles! The LGBTQA and Social Justice Center and the Birnbaum Library will present an interactive, queer zine-making workshop open to all. Join Elvis Bakaitis, creator of the zine Homos in Herstory, in making your own comic!

Queer Career Panel
12:00 p.m.–2:00 p.m. | 41 Park Row, 8th Floor Lounge
Join representatives from business, tech, and marketing in a dialogue focused on the professional LGBTQ identity at Pace’s first ever Queer Career Panel hosted by Student Government Association in partnership with the LGBTQA and Social Justice Center. Topics of discussion include how identity plays out in a person’s career, how students can represent themselves authentically on a resume, how to navigate a career while being their authentic self, and how to find safe places and resources within a company. Business attire is required and lunch will be served.

Queer Society’s Queer Gala
Put on your dancing shoes and get ready for Queer Society’s Queer Gala! Featuring food, fabulous drag performances, dancing, a dynamo DJ, and much more, the Queer Gala is open for anyone and everyone to enjoy! Venue and ticketing information are to be announced soon, so keep checking Queer Society’s Facebook page for updates.
Also, the LGBTQA and Social Justice Center is looking for clothing donations for the Queer Gala Boutique that will be open from Monday, March 27–Friday, April 7. They are collecting nice clothing, such as dresses, suits, blazers, heels, for the Queer Gala Boutique where students, who don’t have fancy clothing or clothing that fits their gender expression, can come in and try on clothing for the Queer Gala. The Pace Community can drop off clothing at donation boxes around campus—LGBTQA Center, Birnbaum Library, the dorms, the Pace Performing Arts Center, the Counseling Center, and more—until Friday, March 24.

Join the LGBTQA and Social Justice Center for their fifth annual Lavender Awards—a ceremony that recognizes Pace University students, staff, faculty, and alumni who have made impactful contributions to the LGBTQA community. The three-hour event will kick off with a cocktail hour and networking session, followed by the awards ceremony, and will conclude with a reception and dancing.
Are you a creative writer? Apply today for a $500 LGBTQA writing scholarship, which will be presented at the Lavender Awards ceremony! This year’s topic is LGBTQA Voices of Resistance, answering the question, “What would you say to the world about what is going on today?” Essays should be no more than seven pages in length and must be submitted to email@example.com by Friday, April 10.
