Success with ITS
Get plugged into ITS! Learn more about the new program Starfish that is making waves and catch up on several other new updates.
Have you heard about Starfish? Though different from the cute sea creature, Starfish is making communication with your professors easy, allowing you to smoothly sail through the semester. Through this platform, you can connect with your professors, advisers, and coaches efficiently.
Starfish allows you to share information, get recognized by faculty for your academic excellence, request support or ask questions, build a success network, share concerns, and receive e-mail or text alerts to keep track of any “raised flags” you receive. For example, professors can send you messages praising you when you are the first in your class to turn in an assignment, or reach out to students who may be struggling and offer options to help them get back on track. Learn more about the benefits of Starfish here.
In addition to Starfish, ITS has several new updates and upgrades including a new makeover to Pace’s ePortfolio, a new wireless network, an upgrade to Pharos printing software, the installation of projectors, computers, and other technology, a shift in location for the data center now on the PLV Campus, and an improvement to the password reset utility that includes an alternate email feature.
Students are encouraged to use the Library’s Open Educational Resources that include textbooks, e-journals, videos, and many other resources. For a full listing, visit http://libguides.pace.edu/openaccess.
Pace faculty, students, and staff can access a set of web-based tools to create an edublog using the WordPress platform where they can communicate with their organizations and showcase their work. To get started, visit http://blogs.pace.edu.
