Think Inside the VOX (PLV)

This semester, celebrate all things literary with the VOX Creative Art Series, featuring a poetry reading, writing workshop, launch party, and more.

VOX Arts and Literary Magazine, the English and Modern Language Studies Department, and the Creative Writing Program invite you to join them for the VOX Arts and Literary Magazine Creative Arts Series and launch event with a featured reading with award-winning writer Jean Valentine from 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, in Lienhard Lecture Hall in PLV, followed by a writing workshop with visiting writer Jean Valentine from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Lienhard 11.

Jean Valentine won the Yale Younger Poets Award for her first book, Dream Barker, in 1965. Her 12th book of poetry is Break the Glass (Copper Canyon Press, 2010). Her next book, Shirt in Heaven, is forthcoming from Copper Canyon in 2015. Door in the Mountain: New and Collected Poems 1965–2003 was the winner of the 2004 National Book Award for Poetry. The recipient of the 2009 Wallace Stevens Award from the Academy of American Poets, Valentine has taught at Sarah Lawrence, New York University, and Columbia. This launch event will also include student readings from the latest issue of VOX Arts and Literary Magazine, prize announcements, and free copies of VOX. Lunch will be served.
