Town Hall: Alcohol and Other Drugs (NYC)

News Story

According to a recent study, 5.1 million young people reported binge drinking at least once in the last month. On Wednesday, October 30, reps from the medial field and nonprofit agencies will discuss how we can combat this growing epidemic.

Did you know that alcohol is the most widely used substance of abuse among America’s youth? According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) 2017 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, about 7.4 million people aged 1220 drank alcohol in a month, which represents 1-in-5 people within this age bracket. About 1-in-8 reportedly drank excessively (or were binge-drinking) in that same timeframe.

To address this growing issue, representatives from the medical field and nonprofit agencies alongside Pace staff will participate in a town hall to discuss how we can all work together to combat excessive drug use.
