Two Shows for Two Years (NYC)

News Story

It’s a double feature of epic performances as the International Performance Ensemble Class of 2018 hosts Second Year Showings on February 18–21.

Pace School of Performing Arts’ International Performance Ensemble (IPE) Class of 2018 invites you to back-to-back devised works in rep on Thursday, February 18–Sunday, February 21, for Second Year Showings, featuring UPHORIUM! (we made this) and youexistrightnow.

Originally workshopped in May of 2015, the two new original works, created by IPE sophomores, will make their New York debut at the Studio Theatre at Theatre Row, located at 410 West 42nd Street, before being taken to Bangkok, Thailand, in May. Both UPHORIUM! (we made this) and youexistrightnow will run back-to-back, with a 15-minute intermission between each show.

UPHORIUM! (we made this) features experts, singing, dancing, research, references to puppies, meaningful gestures, muffins, and much, much more. We're not quite sure what's going to happen, but we know it's going to happen. Our fingers are crossed!

In youexistrightnow, a man writes a book, a woman climbs a bridge railing, and nine people's lives spanning 65 years wrap around each other. A meditation on life, death, and connection, youexistrightnow is an ensemble-based magic realism play that explores the impact of existing in your given Present and the desire to affect the Future.

Performances will be held on the following dates and times:

  • Thursday, February 18 | 8:00 p.m.
  • Friday, February 19 | 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, February 20 | 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, February 21 | 2:00 p.m.

Tickets are free and available here. IPE strongly recommends reserving tickets in advance, as they are likely to sell out quickly. In the event that tickets sell out, a waiting list and line will develop at the Studio Theatre at Theatre Row before each performance. For more information on Second Year Showings, click here.

And who says the sophomores get all the spotlight? Stay tuned for more information about IPE’s Senior Showcase, running March 1–6.
