U.S. Homeland Security Chief at Pace
On March 31, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson will deliver the Dyson Distinguished Lecture at Pace Law School.
United States Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson will deliver the 24th Dyson Distinguished Lecture on Monday, March 31, from 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Moot Court Room in the Gerber Glass Library at Pace Law School.
Secretary Johnson was confirmed and sworn in as the fourth U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security in December 2013. Prior to that, he was the General Counsel of the Department of Defense from 2009 to 2012 during the first Obama Administration, where he oversaw the development of the legal aspects of many of our nation’s counterterrorism policies, spearheaded reforms to the military commissions system at Guantanamo Bay in 2009, and co-authored the 250-page report that paved the way for the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” in 2010. He also served as General Counsel of the Department of the Air Force under President Bill Clinton.
The Dyson Distinguished Lecture was endowed in 1982 by a gift from the Dyson Foundation, made possible through the generosity of the late Charles H. Dyson, a 1930 graduate, trustee, and long-time benefactor of Pace University. The principal aim and object of the Dyson Distinguished Lecture is to encourage and make possible scholarly legal contributions of very high quality in furtherance of Pace Law School's educational mission.
