Omega Phi Beta will open up your eyes and minds as they present their annual Week of Illumination in PLV.
Join the sisters of Omega Phi Beta as they host a series of events centered around hair, how women use hair as a form of expression, and how they should not be oppressed because of it.
Monday, February 27
My Hair, My Life’s Work
8:30 p.m.–11:30 p.m. | Kessel Multipurpose Room
As part of Omega Phi Beta’s Week of Illumination, the sisters are holding My Hair, My Life’s work focused on the different struggles that individuals face everyday just because of the texture of their hair.
Wednesday, March 1
#MyHairMyStory
12:00 p.m. | Butcher Suite
As part of Omega Phi Beta’s Week of Illumination, the sisters are holding #MyHairMyStory, which will be focused around hair relating to personal stories.
Thursday, March 2
My Hair 101
8:30 p.m. | Butcher Suite
As part of Omega Phi Beta’s Week of Illumination, the sisters are holding My Hair 101, where they will educate students about different hair types and textures, and how to effectively take care of your hair, followed by a DIY hair mask tutorial.
Saturday, March 4
My Lady, My Heroine, My Hair Banquet
7:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m. | Gottesman Room
My Lady, My Heroine, My Hair Banquet is a dinner that the sisters of Omega Phi Beta have as part of their annual banquet. This year’s theme will be centered around hair and how women use hair as a form of expression, and should not be oppressed because of it. They will be honoring the sponsors of the Curly Girl Collective, who have their initiative—CurlFest—where women celebrate all different types of hair. Tickets are $7 for students.
