What You Did on Your Summer Vacation

News Story

Getting up close and personal with Bono, playing with puppies, traveling abroad, and planning a wedding. We asked members of the Pace Community what they did over their summer vacation and here's what they had to say.

“I just took a little staycation in NYC that involved two amazing U2 concerts (the second night I had general admission tickets and I was thisclose to the stage and the catwalk) and a hotel with a view of the Empire State Building. The next day I went to the Pierpont Morgan Library, which is gorgeous.” —Michele Camardella, Associate Director of Alumni Relations

"This summer I had my annual ‘friends’ trip to Ocean City, Maryland. Since I graduated college, my friends and I take a trip to Ocean City every summer. It’s become a tradition each year. We’ve added on husbands and boyfriends as well throughout the years. I am also going to Puerto Rico for the first time next month.”—Jen Crespo, Office Manager, Student Development and Campus Activities, NYC Campus

“I presented a paper on the memoirs of ballerina Tamara Karsavina (who created the role of the Firebird, among other things) at a conference on "Actress as Authors" in Chawton House Library, Hampshire, England. This 18th century manor house, now a scholarly foundation, belonged to Jane Austen's brother."—Maude Meisel, Associate Director, Challenge to Achievement at Pace, Division for Student Success

“Spent a week in Boca Raton at a Yoga retreat, doing Qi Gong on the beach in the mornings and Hatha or Vinyasa yoga during the day."—Leonard Burg, Project and Operations Coordinator, Division for Student Success

“I spent my Summer Fridays getting ready for my summer camp-themed wedding over Labor Day weekend! Mostly I just made picture frames out of popsicle sticks, but I was fortunate enough to test out the new fire pit at the wedding venue: my future in-laws’ backyard in Salisbury, Connecticut.”—Kaitie O’Hare, Writer/Editor, University Relations

“Family time with my wife and daughter in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Beach, boats, and great food!” —Shawn Livingston, Senior Associate Director for Student Development and Campus Activities, Westchester Campus

“I spent my vacation in the United Kingdom for my graduation. I just finished a three year certificate program in Egyptology at the University of Manchester. It also was the 10th anniversary of the program so there was a two day celebration with lectures from Egyptologists followed by our graduation and reception. In my down time I went to museums, visited the studios where they filmed Harry Potter, visited the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh, and explored several castles and royal homes across the UK.”—Jaclyn Kopel, Associate Director of the Pforzheimer Honors College, NYC Campus

“We just rescued a new dog, Mochi, so the summer has really been all about him! I’ve really just been spending the summer trying to help him adjust, working on training him, and trying to work through some separation anxiety issues he has. It’s been a bit of a challenge, but he’s such a sweet, goofy dog and we’re so happy to have him with us."—Jennifer Ko, Associate Director for the Office of Student Success

Went on a sailing trip with Sue’s husband (as captain) and Bernice’s brother from the Hudson River to Block Island—Sue Maxam, EdD, Assistant Vice President for Undergraduate Education, Division for Student Success, and Bernice Houle, Director, Data Analytics/Reporting, ITS
