CNS News featured Dyson Professor Darrin Porcher in "Fmr. NYPD Lieutenant: Police-Free Zones, ‘City of Love’ Experiments Inevitably Doomed to ‘a Catastrophic End’"

“We’ve clearly seen that this has a catastrophic end,” former NYPD Lieutenant and U.S. Army veteran Dr. Darrin Porcher said Monday, commenting on activists’ efforts to institute police-free zones in places like Seattle, New York and Chicago.

“The communities of color are under siege and no one Is there to help,” Dr. Porcher said in an interview with Fox & Friends First following a weekend of deadly violence in Seattle’s Capitol Hill Organized Protest (“CHOP”) zone occupied by activists.

“We have these resounding ideas of, ‘Look, let’s make this a police-free zone, and let’s create the City of Love, so to speak, but, we’ve clearly seen that this has a catastrophic end,” Dr. Porcher said.

“Enough already,” it’s time for police to put an end to “this horrific example of a failed experiment,” Porcher said:

“We now need to bring in the practitioners that can implement a sense of normalcy. And, unfortunately, this hasn’t been done. We’ve had multiple shootings that have occurred, resulting in people dying, becoming seriously physically injured, and nothing is being done.

“Enough already. Let’s bring this back to a state of normalcy. And that’s where we need to move – instead of continuing this horrific example of a failed experiment.”

Chicago and New York are also prime examples of how elected officials who should be protecting communities “have fallen asleep at the switch” and inflicted suffering on their communities, Dr. Porcher said:

“Our elected officials have fallen asleep at the switch and, as a result, the communities have suffered based on the inability of government to enact the necessary fortifications to protect these communities.

“So, when we look at places like Chicago and in New York and the catastrophic failures in government, this really results in how necessary it is for us to have police and those, quote unquote, boots on the ground – and this is a clear failure as an example.”
