MarketWatch featured the Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems in "Pace University to Host its Annual Cybersecurity Conference on Oct. 29"

Pace University, in partnership with Cyber Intelligence 4U, is holding its annual Cybersecurity Conference on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020. The full day event, in its fourth year, will be held virtually and is open to the public.

The keynote speaker is Former Rear Admiral and Cyber Director for the U.S. Navy Danelle Barrett, a respected industry leader and innovator. Rear Admiral Barrett was responsible for the Navy's cybersecurity strategy, its policies, and information technology architectures supporting global missions involving 279 ships, 3,700 aircraft, 93 submarines, and hundreds of locations with shore critical infrastructure around the world. In her role, she also provided critical advocacy and strategic advice for a $150 billion information technology and portfolio investment.

The conference includes panels and sessions on operational risk, cyber maturity, risk and regulation, and ransomware strategy, among many other discussions led by industry professional and Seidenberg faculty. There will also be breakout sessions on women in cyber, cyber insurance, analytics, financial regulations and vendor cyber risk management. View the full schedule.

"Pace University has become a powerhouse of cybersecurity education and research," said Jonathan Hill, dean of Pace's Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems. "It has a robust lineup of faculty from business and academic backgrounds specializing in this critical field – as well as a new master's degree in cybersecurity that launched in fall 2020. This year's Cybersecurity Conference is an excellent opportunity for industry professionals to get to know Pace and our partners at Cyber Intelligence 4U."

Pace University and Cyber Intelligence 4U recently partnered to offer a new set of cybersecurity certificate programs taught by industry professionals.

"Pace University and CIU are committed to delivering the best cyber certificate programs that focus on market driven needs," said Ariel Evans, CEO of Cyber Intelligence 4U. "Our programs provide hands on experience for students to pivot from IT into cybersecurity, risk, and privacy positions in a short period of time."

The conference, which is taking place during National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, comes just weeks after a team of programmers who met at Pace University won IBM's prestigious Call for Code 2020 Challenge for their efforts in developing an app to help the world's small farmers cope with the environmental and business challenges of climate change. In winning the global competition, they received a $200,000 prize and continued support from IBM and the Linux Foundation.

Pace's Cybersecurity Conference is ideal for students interested in pursuing a career in cyber or professionals looking for educational programming to increase the resiliency of their organization. Attendees are welcome to attend all day or any session that interests them. Participants are asked to register in advance

"Cybersecurity is a growing field because of its importance for organizations in the digital era as well as the sophistication of knowledge and skills needed for cybersecurity professionals," said Li-Chiou Chen, professor of Information Technology and director of the Cybersecurity Education and Research Lab at Pace University. "Cybersecurity education, including this conference, will help prepare students in acquiring not only the competencies to solve problems but also give them access to a large professional."
