"Yonkers Times" featured Pace graduate Gabriella Rubin in "Former Pace Women's B-Ball Star to Play Overseas"

Former Pace University women’s basketball player Gabriella Rubin has signed on to continue her career with Maccabi Ra’anana of Israel’s National League (Liga Leumit).

“I am blessed to be given the opportunity to play the game that I love for another year while living in another country,” she said.

“We are very happy and proud of Gabby – this is a tremendous opportunity for her,” said Pace Women’s Basketball Head Coach Carrie Seymour. “Gabby is a great example of hard work paying off. She had to battle back from a couple of injuries before ending her career on a high note. She will be a great addition to her club.”

Rubin, who graduated in May with a degree in public accounting, enters the next phase of her basketball career after completing a stellar four seasons in Pleasantville. The Staten Island native racked up more than 900 points and 300 rebounds in 82 career games. She also finished seventh on the Setters’ all-time three-pointers’ list with 123 during her career.

Rubin was all over the floor for Pace, putting together averages of 11.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.1 steals, while helping the Setters to two-straight NE10 Tournament bids over the last two seasons. In 2015, she was selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year after averaging 11.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game during her freshman year.

Ra’anana is a city in the Central District of Israel, about 23 kilometers outside of Tel Aviv. Maccabi Ra’anana will begin its season in early October. For more information regarding Pace University athletics, log on to www.PaceUAthletics.com.
